Established in 1958. A visit to Nelis' Dutch Village is like a step back to the Netherlands of over 100 years ago, on a day when the festival came to town. Wooden shoes, windmills, Dutch cheese, tulips (at Tulip Time of course) and barn & farmhouse, complete with petting zoo. Rides, interactive fun activities and Dutch food specialties are sure to please. Theme Park and Hungry Dutchman Cafe are open from late April through Labor Day, and the shops are open year round, 7 days a week through October. The wooden shoe shop is open M-Sa through Christmas, and M-F in Jan and Feb. Began as the "highway" outlet of Nelis Tulip Farm, the Dutch Village was first only known as the Dutch Market. After adding a new building and attraction for the first couple years, it was decided that Dutch Village was a better name. Now known as Nelis' Dutch Village, we continue to add something new each year, as we have since the early days. Each year, we add more value to the park. 2010 brought the Petal Pumper Cars, 2011 an expanded Petting Zoo. 2012 brought mini horses and 2013 added a children's play area featuring the Wooden Shoe Mini-Zipline. 2014 brought Harry's Windmill Ride, a 1940 Ferris wheel paired with a reproduction of windmill. 2015 added even more Petting Zoo fun, "Make your own Dutch Stroopwafel" cookie, and the PlasmaCar track. Now also includes a Dutch cocoa demonstration and the Pirate Balloon Battle.
