The Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance (PeDRA), founded in 2012, is a research network of ~ 230 clinician researchers representing 68 institutions in predominantly the U.S. and Canada, with some involvement globally from Mexico, Europe and the Middle East. PeDRA is a collaborative research network, providing a platform from which pediatric dermatologists organize studies and collaborate. Pooling resources, and linking investigators together, multiplies the power of each individual clinician scientist many fold. As collaborative projects, PeDRA studies involve at least three members from three different institutions. PeDRA investigators care primarily for pediatric patients, although some see adult patients as well. PeDRA streamlines research by making available a coalition of pediatric specialists poised to conduct clinical trials and other studies. Through collaborative efforts, PeDRA is accelerating research and bringing us closer to new treatment opportunities for children living with underserved, yet demanding and burdensome, dermatologic conditions and diseases.
