Sheriff Byron A. Lyons started his career in law enforcement in 1986 working in the Polk County jail. In 1989 he enrolled in the Deep East Texas Police Academy in Kilgore Texas. In August of 1989 he was placed on patrol after successfully completing Kilgore Police Academy. In May of 1990 he was hired by the Livingston Police Department as a patrolman.
