Valiant Cross Academy is an all-male school with Christian principles located in the heart of downtown Montgomery on Dexter Avenue. Brothers Anthony and Frederick Brock, both educators, said they were frustrated by the alarming number of African-American students who were not college ready. They were committed to create a school that addressed some of the issues that face young African-American males. The school's academic program has smaller class sizes, longer days, double the math and triple the literacy time. The school first opened in 2015 with 30 young men, and now is a middle school with full 6th, 7th and 8th grades with a waiting list.
