Winter Mud Company was founded in 1982, however, one of its co-founders started his mud engineering career decades earlier. Don A. Winter is the bedrock and co-founder of Winter Mud Co. Don will celebrate his 85th birthday on December 25 and is still a vital part of Winter Mud Company. Don started his career in the mud business with National Mud Co. out of Oklahoma City in 1956. In 1957, Don went to work for United Mud out of Borger, Texas and continued with them until 1959. Don started Fluid Mud Services in 1959 and operated it until the tragic death of his business partner in late 1961. Resulting legal issues forced liquidation of the company's assets and Don left for the Permian Basin where he worked for Lone Star Mud Company. In 1963 Don came back to the Panhandle with Agent Mud and Chemical Company. After a brief period of time, Don bought into the company and was an owner until 1981. Don Ray Winter, Don's oldest son, officially began his mud career in 1978 by attending school in Greeley, Colorado but his training began years before that when he rode with his father as a young boy, learning lessons that can only be learned at the rig site. In 1982 Don and Don Ray Winter founded Winter Mud Company in Guymon, Oklahoma. Winter Mud Company has been a leading drilling fluid company in the SW Kansas and the Oklahoma/Texas Panhandle for decades and has expanded operations throughout Oklahoma and Texas. Winter Mud Company was started during a tremendous slow down in the oil business but survived and was able to grow to its current size. Since Don began his career, Winter Mud has ran mud for some of the giants in the oil business; Shell Oil, Texaco, Phillips, Anadarko, Sinclair, Shamrock, Mobile, Jones Energy, and Linn Energy, just to name a few. Winter Mud Company operates a liquid mud plant and a trucking business. Our highly trained drilling fluid engineers represent the best in the industry. Photography: Photography is the art, application and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film. It is employed in many fields of science, manufacturing (e.g., photolithography), and business, as well as its more direct uses for art, film and video production, recreational purposes, hobby, and mass communication. Typically, a lens is used to focus the light reflected or emitted from objects into a real image on the light-sensitive surface inside a camera during a timed exposure. With an electronic image sensor, this produces an electrical charge at each pixel, which is electronically processed and stored in a digital image file for subsequent display or processing. The result with photographic emulsion is an invisible latent image, which is later chemically "developed" into a visible image, either negative or positive depending on the purpose of the photographic material and the method of processing. A negative image on film is traditionally used to photographically create a positive image on a paper base, known as a print, either by using an enlarger or by contact printing.
