Bakery Manager oversees operations and staffing for the bakery department within a grocery store. Manages pastry making and baking, suggests changes to inventory and pricing, and purchases supplies when needed. Being a Bakery Manager monitors quality of goods and service. Responsible for department staff training, assignments, and scheduling. Additionally, Bakery Manager requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Bakery Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Bakery Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.   • Frenchette Bakery at the Whitney is seeking an experienced and dedicated Bakery Manager with a passion for hospitality to join our team and grow with us. The Bakery Manager will oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of operations including all aspects of the business and the guest experience. An essential function of the job will be the ability to lead, motivate and support our team to create a uniquely warm and positive environment.

    The successful candidate will be a natural leader, have experience in a similar customer service, retail and/or food and beverage role, detail oriented with a positive can-do approach, strong interpersonal skills and work ethic.

    Ongoing day-to-day operations including but not limited to:

    • Manage Bakery/Counter Service and Operations
    • Oversee Bakery/Counter staff
      • Scheduling and coverage (in conjunction with restaurant operations manager)
      • Hiring and Training schedules
      • Make sure all staff is properly trained on all coffee, beverage and service
      • Help organize & oversee cross training of beverage/bar program
    • Oversee Wholesale Orders
      • Assist packing and delivery
      • Pick-up/delivery schedule and notification
    • Oversee Bakery Food Catering
    • Oversee Bakery Operations
      • Machine Maintenance
      • Inventory & Ordering
      • Menu updates & printing
      • Maintain an organized storage space
      • Help build on-line ordering / wholesale ordering
      • Liaise with BOH mgmt on wholesale orders, production and delivery
      • Manage and limit waste
      • Adhere to DOH regulations and always be inspection ready (1st and 8th floor)
      • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment
      • Ensure all staff is holding up high standards of service
      • Maintain a good working relationship with other by promoting teamwork and fostering a harmonious working climate
      • Continuously provide support to all service staff and actively participate in the cycle of service as needed
    • Floor managing during cafe service
      • Open cafe floor with daily responsibilities along with other FOH managers
      • Oversee daily floor service at the Cafe and 8th floor
      • Ensure all staff is holding up our high standards of service
      • Help with daily staff management, breaks, coverage
    • Policy and Procedures:
      • Conception
      • Implementation
      • Enforcement
      • Evaluation
    • Ensuring lawfulness and in keeping with company wide standards
    •  Efficiency:
      • Work with management team to develop successful systems in all areas (labor, COG’s, supplies, inventory manager, repairs)
      • Responsible for upkeep and ongoing improvement of all aspects of the restaurant operation
        • Customer and Employee Safety (OSHA, DOH)
        •  Customer Service and Satisfaction
        • Tools for the Staff to do their jobs
        • Employee morale and happiness
        • Maintain up to date website, menu, POS and reservations
    • Intangibles:
      • Lead by example (always prompt, professional, energetic, upbeat and confident)
      • Treat all staff with respect at all times
      • Ability to listen and give time to all employees
      • Always compliment in public and discipline in private (one other manager present)
      • Always doing what is best for Frenchette Bakery 

    You should possess at least 3 years of customer service experience, plus:

    • Flexibility with schedule (Monday-Sunday, weekends required)
    • Full time availability
    • Food Handler’s/Food Protection License required
    • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry objects up to 30lbs
