Position Summary

829 Studios is seeking an HR Manager to lead the Human Resources operation for our growing digital marketing agency that currently employs more than 65 team members.  You are a solutions-oriented leader who understands all disciplines involved in recruiting, managing and retaining top-tier talent.  This position involves consistent interaction with team members, and you are confident in owning the strategic direction of human resources management at our agency.  You will report directly to the Founding Partners.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist with recruitment.  Facilitate the hiring of qualified applications by collaborating with department directors to understand the skills required for their openings.  Post jobs via JazzHR, review resumes,  conduct screener calls and manage offers.
  • Conduct employee onboarding and offboarding.  Use Zenefits to ensure that all documents are completed.  Issue appropriate equipment and create accounts in relevant software platforms.  Close accounts and conduct exit interviews upon departure.
  • Manage employee benefits.  Conduct employee benefits orientation, coordinate with vendors and assist with enrollment when eligible.
  • Assist with performance management.  Setup reviews within Zenefits and see them through to completion with appropriate team members.  Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings and terminations.  Review hours reports to ensure that team members are committing time and performing client work efficiently.
  • Maintain compliance and best practices.  Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal laws and regulations.  Recommend best practices and conduct reviews of policies and procedures to maintain compliance.  Audit and update the employee handbook on a routine basis.
  • Perform routine tasks.  Assist with inputting sick/vacation days, authorizing payroll, data entry of 401k contributions, and answering questions about compensation, benefits and leave
  • Plan company events.  Plan quarterly company town hall meetings, holiday parties, team-building outings, and other morale-building activities.

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least seven years of experience in Human Resources for a professional services business.  
  • Experience leading and implementing key HR programs and processes focussed on responsibility scaling a growing marketing agency.
  • The ability to problem-solve, confidently make decisions and manage team members with empathy and authority. 
  • Strong knowledge of global, federal and state laws and regulations related to employment practices.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and organizational skills.
  • Experience utilizing HR management software (we use Zenefits).
