Assistant Food Service Director

Assist with leading the Food Service operations at the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY.    

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for overseeing daily meal service of all meals, to include breakfast, lunch, dinner and TM’s according to USMMA standards

• Supervising the Food Service Shift Supervisors to ensure efficient, timely and quality operations.

• Report to the Food Service Director regarding all operations of the kitchen

• Responsible for scheduling, timesheets, cash handling, and sanitation

• Consult with Food Service Director on food cost, menu development, food ordering and food quality, as well as special events 

• Supervises production and distribution of food in a large kitchen-dining facility or in two or more smaller facilities.

• Ensures that Shift Supervisors are training and coordinating staff responsibilities and assignments.

• Oversee food handling, preparation, and storage

• Maintain a neat and orderly kitchen with the highest standards of safety and cleanliness

• Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess:

3 years food service supervisory experience

A current ServSafe certification

A neat appearance

Good human relations with the ability to communicate in a courteous manner

Experience with working with individuals in a supported employment services setting to promote job skills and economic self-sufficiency a huge plus

Bilingual English and Spanish speaking is a plus
