Location: Middletown, NY (Orange and Sullivan County, NY)
This position provides intensive in-home services for at-risk youth with serious emotional disturbances and their families. The position requires skills in providing intensive support, crisis intervention, advocacy & follow up services and within the home and community based service network of the agency.
Intensive In-Home Services are provided to youth and his/her family/caregiver experiencing a behavioral health crisis, and require the following skill set/abilities:
· Provision of goal directed supports and solution focused interventions that achieve identified goals or objectives in a treatment plan.
· To engage children and youth and their family/caregivers who may have difficulty working with services in formal office settings.
· To provide services and interventions designed to compensate for or eliminate functional deficits and interpersonal and/or environmental barriers within youth and their family.
Crisis Intervention services are provided to youth and his/her family/caregiver experiencing a behavioral health crisis, and includes the following skill set/abilities:
• To Interrupt and/or ameliorate the crisis experience
• provides an assessment that is culturally and linguistically sensitive
• Results in immediate crisis resolution and de-escalation
• Development of a Safety plans
Other Job Components:
· Knowledgeable about all Orange County youth and family resources with particular knowledge of the services of Access: Supports for Living, Inc.
· On-call coverage and crisis intervention as needed during and off normal business hours
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Strong engagement and collaborative skills
· Flexibility with hours as may require some evenings and weekends
Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services and 1 – 3 years minimum experience working with Youth and Families. Master’s Degree preferred.
· 1 to 3 years’ experience (preferably with youth and families).
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Education, Human Services, Recreation Therapy or related degree. Master’s degree preferred.
