Description
The position of Teller/Customer Service Representative is responsible for providing superior customer service by performing intermediate to advanced level teller and customer service duties while maintaining adherence to all Bank policies, procedures, internal controls and compliance. This includes, but is not limited to, accepting retail and commercial checking and savings deposits, processing loan payments, advances, wire transfers, cashing checks and savings withdrawals, processing the night depository, maintaining vault duties, opening and servicing deposit accounts and promoting business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services. This individual is expected to provide technical guidance to customers and Bank staff. The Teller/CSR assists in attaining established Bank and branch goals through active participation in the retail banking team and is expected to provide leadership and support to less experienced staff members.
KEY PERFORMANCE DIMENSIONS & PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI)
Specific KPI’s Critical to the success of the position:
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers, vendors and personnel to gain and retain quality relationships.
- Quality: Ability to accurately process Bank transactions and maintain a balanced drawer in accordance with Alliance Bank’s Teller manual.
- Policy Compliance: Adherence to all Bank and Department policies and procedures including, but not limited to: those regarding attendance, dress code, and those outlined in the Code of Conduct.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Accurately process retail and commercial transactions including: checking and savings deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, traveler’s checks, bonds, cash advances, and all other products and services.
- Assist with night depository duties including, but not limited to, logging bags, processing deposits and issuing receipts.
- Cross-sell the Bank’s products and services, and refer customers to appropriate staff and other departments as needed. Including, but not limited to personal bankers, Mortgage, Investments and Commercial Banking Departments.
- Maintain a balanced cash drawer in accordance with the bank’s Teller Manual.
- Effectively and efficiently process batch transactions through the Branch Capture System.
- Establish and maintain high quality customer relations.
- Ensure all aspects of the branch vault procedures, Federal Reserve shipments, cash drawer audits, inventory and audits of negotiable items are completed as indicated by internal audit procedures.
- Serve as a resource and coach for less experienced tellers.
- Primary contact for Deposit Operations correspondence.
- Assist Teller Supervisor as needed.
- Maintain documentation of files, including but not limited to personal and business signature cards, closed accounts, consumer loans, night depository agreements, and safe deposit boxes.
- Opens and services all deposit products, including, but not limited to checking, savings, CD’s, safe deposit boxes, electronic and convenience services, process fraud/customer disputes and other general maintenance.
- Provide support to bankers and assist in facilitating the consumer loan function. This may include but is not limited to ordering credit reports, organizing files, tickler files, drafting correspondence, requesting customer information, scanning documents and making copies.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1 year of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Cash handling and customer service experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Direct industry experience of at least 1 year.
ENVIRONMENT and COGNITIVE /PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- The environment for this position is an open office that is mostly clean and comfortable. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. The individual is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time in an office setting.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills including use of phone, computer, speaking, listening, and presenting.
- Travel to work at other branches as needed.
- Ability to problem solve, negotiate and persuade customers.
