ASHBURN CHEMICAL Compliance Specialist Salary in the United States

This role will include several functions: Hazard Communication, SDS Authoring, Product Safety, Regulatory and Compliance. The job descriptions below are just in general and will be modified depending on the job-demands.

• Apply chemistry background to understand chemical breakdown, review chemistry and reactions to determine products’ hazard classifications.
• Determine the Hazard Class for Finished Goods according to the Global Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemical (GHS).
• Must know about NA regulations OSHA HazCom 2012 (29 CF 1910.1200), Canada’s HPR (WHMIS 2015), and Mexico’s (NOM-018-STPS) to modify the GHS classifications for each Country’s SDSs.
• Create, revise, and update SDS for the current and R&D products.
• Determine some particular US, Canadian and Mexico’s regulations that are related to the required or non-required information in the SDS.
• Labels: Create compliant label elements required for shipping within North America. Include any State label requirements (i.e. Cali. Prop 65 and Calif. SCAQMD Rule 1144).
• French and Spanish SDS for Canada and Mexico that comply with Canada’s HPR and Mexico’s NOM-018-STPS.
• Oversee specific aspects of chemical regulatory compliance programs to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as internal and external business requirements.
• Generate Certificate of Compliance to ensure the product is in compliance with certain regulations at customers’ requests (e.g., RoHS, REACH). Contact chemical vendors to confirm the information needed.
• For the EPA regulated products: Maintain compliance and documentation with EPA and vendors supplying EPA sub-registered products.
