Location: Chicago

The Position: Associate, Risk Analyst

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the production, design and support of daily, weekly, and monthly risk reports.
• Partner with senior management and investment team members to ensure portfolio risk oversight is complete.
• Investigate portfolios to understand the drivers of performance to facilitate effective portfolio risk management.
• Help ensure data is consistent and positions are modeled correctly in risk systems.
• Consistently review the portfolio risk and associated data processes to ensure efficiencies and highlight opportunities for improvement.
• Respond to risk requests from portfolio managers, client service, and firm leadership.
• Contribute to product risk assessment analysis and new strategy guidelines.
• Responsible for maintaining existing and building new reporting to enhance risk management reporting leveraging business intelligence tools such as Tableau. 
• Contribute to data initiatives across the firm aimed at maximizing efficiency and value created from datasets.
• Work with technology teams to implement and optimize sustainable risk processes

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Finance, Economics or Mathematics
• 1-2 years of work experience within the investment industry in an analytical role
• Advanced Microsoft excel skills including knowledge of pivot tables, VBA, and data analysis functions
• Programming experience in SQL and other quantitative programming languages (R, Python, MATLAB)
• Basic understanding of statistical techniques used in risk management and portfolio performance analysis
• Progress towards or interest in pursuing the CFA designation
• Experience with these products is distinguishable: Bloomberg PORT, StatPro, RiskMetrics, FactSet, Tableau or Power BI is preferable
