Provide individual and group academic advising to students and assist with various student development services such as orientation, placement testing, academic and career advising and other student development services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Provide academic and career advising to prospective, new and returning students in person, online and via telephone.
- Assist with administration and interpretation of placement testing to prospective, new, and returning students.
- Assist in planning and implementing academic advising processes, procedures and activities. Participate in recruiting and outreach activities for the campus. Represent the college at community events and participate in recruiting and outreach activities. Schedule and coordinate campus visits for prospective students and community groups.
- Facilitate assessment testing an academic advising for prospective and entering students during new student orientations and as assigned. Assist in implementation of marketing and retention strategies. Assist in planning and implementation of special college events as assigned.
- Assist the registrar by completing initial graduation checks after student submission of application for graduation. Final degree determination will rest with the registrar in accordance with Central Arizona College degree policies.
- Work with the Director to identify and advise At-Risk student populations and Probation students. Assist the registrar in the evaluation of incoming transfer credits as requested.
- Perform other duties commensurate with the function and level of the position to include participation on college committees, and the recruitment and retention of students.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree; desirably in Education, Counseling, Guidance, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year related experience. Experience can include, but is not limited to, post-secondary student services experience in admissions, advising, career services, counseling, financial aid, recruitment, registration, residence life, student accounts, and Student Support Service Programs (TRiO/Upward Bound). Other examples of related experience include student guidance in a secondary school setting or case management/counseling skills in a behavioral health setting.
SPECIAL POSITION CONDITIONS: Driving and travel throughout the district is required using CAC or own transportation, and is considered an essential function of the position. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends.

- Knowledge of Student Development Theory and its application to the variety of students attending community college and vocational and transfer programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle materials. Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other facilities due to long periods of standing sitting, and repetitive motion.
