Position Summary:

Your work will help our students and staff navigate this landscape and forge a path toward technologies that help them explore, learn, and succeed in education and in life.  

The Classroom Technology Analyst works with the technology support team to implement and maintain audio/video equipment in college classrooms and conference rooms. This role includes designing, programming, and installing technology control systems for instructional use, training staff and faculty on equipment operation, and coordinating with outside vendors and college departments for system integration. This position requires a strong understanding of audio/video systems and the ability to troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues.

Essential Functions:


Classroom and Conference Room Programming

  • Constructs and implements user interfaces and environments for classroom and conference room A/V control systems 
  • Programs A/V systems to route, control, manage, and stream information in an integrated environment
  • Troubleshoots and debugs new and legacy system software, hardware, cabling, and components 
  • Integrates compatible third-party hardware and software solutions 
  • Implements, administers, and maintains A/V management data system infrastructure 
  • Provides detailed project documentation and secure backups of digital assets
System Research, Testing, and Evaluation
  • Researches and evaluates hardware and software for improvements and possible modification. Recommends compatible and compliant technology
  • Tests and evaluates compiled code
  • Programs, inspects, and maintains complex, campus-wide, client and server-based applications
Technology Planning, Coordination, and Installation
  • Coordinates and assists with multi-department, multi-level technology projects
  • Plans and coordinates with IT teams and outside vendors for consistent college wide setup, configuration, and support of classroom and conference room A/V control systems. 
  • Assemble, install, deploy, and maintain computer workstations, planetarium equipment, studio production hardware/software, and networked A/V control systems 
  • Actively participates in necessary meetings, committees, and teams for IT related projects
Other Functions
  • Supervises and coordinates student and/or hourly employees
  • Assists in the orientation, training, and support of technology for faculty, staff, and students
  • Creates and maintains technical operation documentation and user instructions
  • Performs all other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

A high school diploma/G.E.D. and 4 years of experience providing computer and A/V technology installation, support, and maintenance

-OR-

Associate’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 2 years of experience providing computer and A/V technology installation, support, and maintenance

-OR-

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 1 year of experience providing computer and A/V technology installation, support, and maintenance

Core Competencies:

  • Understanding of modern programming practices and troubleshooting techniques 
  • Experience with various programming IDE's and their coding languages
  • Familiarity with media production techniques, capability to troubleshoot and support a broad range of A/V related equipment, and the ability to interpret complex diagrams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Crestron programming and/or A/V certifications
  • AMX programming and/or A/V certifications 
  • Experience with Kramer and Atlona A/V systems
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Safety and Health Certification
  • Current FCC General License

Terms of Employment:

  • This is a 100%, 12-month classified assignment of the C1 band and grade
  • Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends
  • Requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire
  • Upon hire, must pass security inquiry which may include criminal history; only information relevant to the position will be considered
  • Requires successful completion of a Job Specific Fitness Assessment with Salem Occupational Health
