What does an Community Center Manager do at companies like CITY OF DORAL?

The Community Center Manager is responsible for the supervision of the Assistant Community Center Manager and Service Aides. It is also responsible for the safety and supervision of participants in City coordinated functions, such camps, youth programs and events that take place in the community center. Responsible for the safety and maintenance of the community center and enforcement of all park rules and regulations.This position is supervised by the Recreation Facility Supervisor and oversees Assistant Community Center Manager, and Service Aides.
 
This position is classified as a non-exempt, full-time position with a 40 hour work-week.Essential Functions:
  • Provides oversight and direction for the daily operations of the community center which includes but is not limited to the gymnasium, auditorium, multipurpose rooms, fitness centers, and play areas.
  • Ensures safety and cleanliness of the center.
  • Prepares schedules and work assignments for part-time employees (Service Aides).
  • Supervises, trains, evaluates and disciplines full-time and part-time employees.
  • Assists with the marketing, advertising, and promotional plans for programs and events of the community center.
  • Recommend and develop SOP's for community center functions.
  • Supervises and oversees the maintenance of the community center facility, and the inspection and preventative maintenance of the community center facility and equipment to ensure safe operations and maintain inventory. .
  • Identify and prevent possible safety hazards or causes of injury.
  • Organizing and administering recreational programming when needed.
  • Supports operations by handling telephone inquiries, greeting visitors, and providing information.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs a wide variety of recreational activities.
  • Enforce safety and other park rules and regulations; administers first aid as required.
  • Manage general maintenance and clean up duties at the community center which include, but not limited to, the emptying of trash receptacles, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors, wiping down tables, chairs and other furnishings, replenishing toilet paper and hand towels, and cleaning concession area, restrooms and fields.
Additional Duties:
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned by the Recreation Facility Supervisor.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING
  • A High School diploma or a GED equivalent.
  • Two years of recreation experience is preferred.
  • One year of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS REQUIRED
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must hold a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to establish good customer relations.
  • Must have an ability to deal with people effectively, courteously and enthusiastically.
  • Requires limited knowledge of the materials, methods and equipment typically used in recreational work and clean up duties.
  • Knowledge of basic rules of safety and ability to enforce applicable rules and regulations.
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires physical strength and agility to perform assigned tasks, which include, but are not limited to, bending, twisting, walking, climbing, reaching, lifting and carrying.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
