Who You Are + What You'll Do:

You are an Application Administrator who has solid experience providing support of all production system processing and applications.As part of an elite group that has access to production systems, you are the front line production Subject Matter Expert. This role is where System Administrator and Release Manager meet.  You control all things Production and operate in that space of fidelity, meticulousness, and care. You will be responsible for job automation, running batch jobs, running SQL scripts, reviewing logs, system and application monitoring, maintenance, patch management, software upgrades, file transfers, backups, first-level troubleshooting and support.

Your Day to Day:

• Manage Service/Problem tickets (JIRA) promptly and within established SLAs.
• Own and modify as appropriate system configuration settings; set best practices and maintenance regime for assigned systems based on requirements of the Director of IT Operations, software/vendor recommendations, experience, and business needs.
• Ensures the efficient operation of production systems including database, application and web servers.
• Establishes job automation using scripts and other tools.
• Ensure proper backup coverage and monitor backup quality with documented test restorations.
• Monitors both system and application’s availability and performance information to ensure the efficient operation of workstations, automation, and processes.
• Maintain operating system and application current patch levels on all servers.
• Maintenance of the Microsoft Active Directory Users and Groups. This includes maintaining network users, mail accounts, directories and security through ADManager.
• Work within Company change control and IT security policies.
• Troubleshoot and perform Root Cause Analysis of basic software and hardware issues.
• Part of a team responsible for 24x7 on-call problem resolution for production and office environments in areas of system expertise, and authority to escalate as necessary.
• Create, maintain, and monitor batch files and scripts as required.
• Maintain production tape backup system and perform backups and restores as required.
• Monitors production Antivirus using tools like, New Relic, Pingdom, and others. 
• Suggests and implements automation as appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience to Be Successful in This Role:

• 2-4 years of experience in production application administration experience in a Windows Server environment
• 2-4 years of Windows Systems Administration in multiple server enterprise (5 or more servers), and end user desktop support in an office environment
• Experience using Server 2008, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2016, PostgreSQL,  and VMWare
• Thorough understanding of:
  • the Internet and its key configuration components (e.g. DNS, email, http, IP addressing, Subnetting)
  • batch files and scripting
  • different methods of file transfer – FTP, SFTP, FTPS and NDM
  • Microsoft IIS
  • Basic understanding of:
    • Linux operating system
    • SQL scripts
    • Virtualization technologies
    • LAN configuration and administration
  • Experience with batch automation and automation tools
  • Time management and solid organization skills
  • Ability to interact well with employees, vendors and customers
  • Ability to research and evaluate problems or technologies outside current knowledge or experience
