Job Summary

The Adult Day Program Assistant plans and implements a variety of programming and meaningful activities that are designed to promote purpose, engagement, and socialization for clients of the Adult Day Program. The Program Assistant provides hands-on assistance to clients with their activities of daily living as noted by their individual care needs. This person will take a positive team approach with the goal of providing the highest quality service and care possible for the clients.

Examples of specific tasks may include:

• Planning and facilitating programs and activities which meet the needs of clients
• Assist with orienting new clients and supporting their adjustment
• Maintain a current knowledge of client's needs and abilities, including care plans and ISP goals
• Assist clients with activities of daily living, such as basic hygiene and transferring
• Assist with treatments and therapies under the direction of licensed personnel and according to departmental policy
• Complete documentation noted in the licensing regulations
• Give direction to volunteers when needed

Job Standards

• High school diploma or GED equivalent with at least one year of working experience in a health care or social service setting required
• A desire to work with the senior population experiencing cognitive or functional challenges required
• Experience working with individuals with dementia preferred
• Competency with completing basic personal care tasks required
• Ability to grow in the knowledge base of therapeutic recreation, dementia, and other specific areas to adult day service regulations required
• Aptitude in arts, crafts, and music preferred
