Girl Scouts of NE Kansas and NW Missouri supports 23,000 girl members and 9,000 adult volunteers in its 47-county jurisdiction surrounding the Greater Kansas City, St. Joseph and Topeka areas.

 

The Banking Specialist is responsible for establishing and implementing new Girl Scout bank accounts in partnership with external banking representatives. The Banking Specialist will provide customer support – engaging in consistent interaction with volunteers, external bank professionals, and internal staff. The Banking Specialist works closely with the Council Banking Manager and the Finance Team to successfully implement banking functions, maintaining product relationships with all internal and external parties. This role will possess a high level of integrity while maintaining non-profit finance principles and practices.

 

Responsibilities

Volunteer Banking Management

  • Assess, approve and oversee volunteer requests to open bank accounts.
  • Manage the collection of updated volunteer bank account information and enter it in the Bank of America CashPro program.
  • Provide customer service to both volunteers and internal staff; including, but not limited to, bank account signers, daily bank account transactions and general support while utilizing Sales Force.
  • Maintain consistent communication between volunteers and staff in order to successfully fulfill bank account requests.
  • Manage the collection of updated volunteer bank account information and enter it in the Bank of America CashPro program.

Banking system compliance and documentation

  • Provide required documentation to banking institutions, maintaining current federal banking standards.
  • Ensures supporting documentation is provided and available for every transaction made.
  • Assist with ongoing evaluation of the function and features and the banking system including compliance of banking policies.
  • Collaborates with internal staff and external banking institutions to ensure that both company standards are met.

Financial Management and reporting

  • Investigate, analyze, and resolves financial management and mismanagement issues.
  • Resolves banking issues and monitors misappropriation of funds.
  • Maintain internal financial controls and procedures and performs various fraud prevention tasks.
  • Complete ACH debits for monies owed to council utilizing the Bank of America CashPro program.
  • Completes ACH credits for monies to council Girl Scout groups.
  • Provides cross functional finance support to the Product Program department as needed.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned; including, but not limited to, support for Council Banking Manager and other banking responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field (Business management, Finance/Accounting, etc.) or two - four years of progressively responsible banking and financial experience.
  • Any combination of education, training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job
  • Ability to make good judgement decisions when addressing disputes to ensure positive customer service is provided
  • Valid Driver License with an acceptable driving record
  • Bilingual – a plus, but not required
