Job Summary

Learn the basics of both first and third-party insurance claims handling to develop the skills necessary to advance within Safety’s adjusting career paths. Responsible for customer service interactions with insureds, third parties and our agents from new claim inception through final claim resolution.

Duties

• Sets up first notice of loss using Safety’s proprietary software programs.
•  Investigates, analyzes, and evaluates liability and damages by gathering information from insureds, claimants and witnesses.  
• Interprets and applies policy coverages under Safety’s various insurance policy offerings.
• Uses various software programs and databases to adjust claims.
• Applies the appropriate surcharge according to Massachusetts General Laws.
• Identifies all subrogation opportunities.
• Fosters and maintains relationships with Safety’s agents through effective communication and customer service skills.
• Establishes adequate and timely claims reserves in accordance with Safety’s guidelines.
• Evaluates, negotiates and achieves equitable settlements of claims presented.
• Identifies, investigates and refers potential fraudulent claims to SIU.
• Provides excellent customer service through prompt responses to inquiries and resolving issues within established levels of authority.
• Performs other activities as required

Qualifications

• College degree or insurance course work/experience required
• Superior organization skills and detail orientation required
• Excellent communications skills required
• Ability to work co-operatively within a team environment
