What does an Controller do at companies like ZANES LAW?
Is a highly qualified Controller who will lead our firm’s finance department. We need someone with a non corporate background who is experienced in all aspects of accounting and an administration office. A people person who can uphold our strong values and culture. You enjoy both low and high levels tasks that are part of being in a company our size.
- Understanding of IOLTA accounts and three-way reconciliation
- Performs all the accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll and financial reporting.
- Prepares and maintains financial reporting and business records
- Oversees regulatory annual reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance. Works with CPA annually.
- Hires, trains and retains skilled accounting staff
- Manages client settlement distributions.
- Prepares monthly reports
- Five or more years of professional accounting experience with a minimum of 5 years in a $10MM-$15MM environment
- Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis
- Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
- Experience in managing payroll and tax reporting
- Exemplary history of financial project management
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field
- Master’s degree in accounting or related field Preferred
- Five or more years of experience as a senior-level accounting in a noncorporate environment
- Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) preferred but not required.
- Proficient on Quickbooks Enterprise
- Proficient with Excel and Office 365
