Animal Control Officer is responsible for enforcing local animal control ordinances. Responds to service calls and investigates complaints from the public. Being an Animal Control Officer catches/rescues stray, injured, misplaced, or dangerous animals and transports animals to the shelter. Issues warnings and citations when violations of animal care and control laws are observed. Additionally, Animal Control Officer provides information to the public on the laws and regulations regarding the treatment, care, and control of animals. Educates the public about animal issues and responsible pet ownership. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Animal Control Officer works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.
