This involves overseeing all functions in the department's Access database. Gather and analyze shipment history and freight costs, which total over $80 million each year. Regularly check and report international and domestic transportation expenses compared to the budget, with weekly and monthly updates. Keep track of transportation expenses using web reports and analyze data to understand cost trends. Handle and prepare reports for freight payments. Monitor service transit times from carrier websites. Handle bidding processes for carriers and vendors. Develop and update department performance dashboards. Act as an expert on Access database processes and contribute to special projects related to cost analysis as needed by management.
