Crete Church was established in the mid-1960's by families in the Crete-Beecher area. They were eager to plant a church with Reformed/Presbyterian beliefs since there were no other churches in this region of this persuasion at the time. The church eventually began meeting in the Crete-Monee schools and built its first church home between the First United Bank and the School on Exchange Street.
