Company to Host Complimentary Learning and Networking Events Addressing Key Topics in Compensation
WELLESLEY, MA--(Marketwired - May 5, 2016) - Salary.com, the leader in employer-reported compensation data, software and services, today announced the launch of is Compensation Luncheon Series, a series of informal educational sessions held in major cities across the United Stated and Canada. Led by Mark Szypko, Salary.com's vice president of Compensation Strategy, these complimentary luncheon sessions will explore the most pressing topics in compensation today, including the latest updates and regulations impacting compensation professionals and best practices for discussing pay with employees.
"Today's compensation professionals face a number of challenges, from contending with complex and often changing regulations at the state and federal levels, to helping managers hold conversations around pay with their teams," said Szypko. "To be effective in such a dynamic landscape, having an understanding of the latest developments in the market and keeping up with the best strategies to communicate compensation are essential. Through these luncheon events, we can provide the insight compensation professionals need to succeed, while networking with their peers in a relaxed, informal setting."
In each luncheon event, Szypko will present one of two sessions: "FLSA Streamlining: What We Know and How to Prepare" and "Creating Compensation Ambassadors: Engaging Managers to Willingly and Effectively Talk About Pay."
During "FLSA Streamlining: What We Know and How to Prepare," Szypko will offer insight into the U.S. Department of Labor's proposed amendments to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), designed to streamline the exemption process in regard to overtime pay. If implemented, these changes will have a significant impact on compensation leaders, driving the need for a better understanding of the proposed changes. Attendees will learn the background of this proposal, how the amendments would affect their business processes and strategies, and how they can prepare for the changes they would introduce.
In the "Creating Compensation Ambassadors: Engaging Managers to Willingly and Effectively Talk About Pay" sessions, Szypko will discuss how compensation professionals can help managers to have meaningful, productive conversations around pay with their teams. At a time when employees are more informed about pay levels than ever, managers must be able to conduct difficult conversations around pay effectively. Szypko will discuss how compensation managers can become compensation ambassadors who advocate on behalf of the organization, even when the news is difficult to share.
Salary.com will host its luncheon events at the following locations and dates:
Salary.com will present additional luncheon sessions in the third quarter, with dates and locations to be announced.
