In 1974, Charles Samelson founded Charles Samelson, Inc. and began the successful journey of designing and engineering stylish fire retardant (FR) fabrics for the contract and residential marketplace. Consistent growth throughout the '70's and '80's led to the founding of the Chatelane division to focus on the residential jobber trade. To support this and Samelson's ever growing Hospitality business, we expanded our warehouse in 1985, and in 1990 built a new state-of-the-art distribution and heat-transfer print facility in Spartanburg, S.C. Eventually, the Samelson and Chatelane divisions combined with a single focus - Hospitality. Today, Samelson-Chatelane maintains the largest collection of fire retardant fabrics in the industry for use at the window, on the bed, on upholstered furniture and for room accessories. We also carry an extensive line of prints, inherently FR base cloths and exclusive woven upholstery fabrics to be used in interior and exterior environments for the Hospitality, Cruise Line and Restaurant marketplaces. In 2001, Samelson acquired the Coral of Chicago group, purveyors of performance fabrics designed for Healthcare, Institutional, Government, Educational and Corporate environments. This, combined with Samelson-Chatelane's continued growth, required that we double the size of our distribution and print facility. Our reputation for service and "know how" as a supplier to these markets is unbeatable. Additionally, our design library, variety of in-stock FR base cloths, and the operation of our own print facility makes us a prime resource for you. Our differentiation strategy provides you with advantages: We have over 40 years of experience designing and delivering printed and woven fabrics from our Spartanburg, S.C. distribution center We offer in stock options and custom capabilities for sheers, draperies, top-of-bed, faux silks, heat-transfer and digital prints, upholstery, barrier upholstery, faux leather & suede (vinyl), eco-friendly, and outdoor fabrics Our website's user friendly ...
