Hidden Brook Winery is located in a log cabin surrounded by a peaceful forest, far away from the hustle of everyday life. The cabin was built by the hands of owners Eric and Deborah Hauck, with the help of their family and friends. The husband-and-wife team spent a long time looking for land in Loudoun County to start their winery, and ironically ended up next door to Eric's parents, Bob and Carol Hauck, who owned Lost Creek Vinyards and Winery, only about 100 feet away. But they don't have to worry about family competition. The two couples have created distinct indentities for their wineries by focusing on different varietals. Eric and Deborah's favorites are Vidal Blanc and Chambourcin, both French-American hybrid grapes. Chambourcin is most often used for blending wine; the Haucks have crafted it into standout, stand alone wines. Hidden Brook's rustic but elegant tasting room seats 48 with additional seating for 12 on the veranda, which is an extraoridary spot for taking in the shady atmosphere of the winery. Light fare available in the tasting room includes a selection of cheeses, crackers, and sausages. As for the Hauck's winemaking philosophy, they say their favorite part of the job is experimenting with the wines and receiving customer feedback.
