Golden Triangle Planning and Development District (GTPDD) was formed in June of 1971 to improve and enlarge economic development and civic improvement in the Appalachian counties of Choctaw, Clay, Lowndes, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Webster, and Winston. Geographically connected, each of these counties possesses resources that collectively are leveraged by the GTPDD with the larger networked resources of the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to generate more value for each. Status as a nonprofit corporation was established in the 1976 Amendment to the Articles of Incorporation, with the primary purpose of lessening the burdens of the affiliated county governments. Centrally located in Oktibbeha County, GTPDD provides time-sensitive data to the municipalities, county governments, and their economic development partners that supports informed decision making. In addition to dynamic data, the GTPDD leadership connects participating agencies and offices to Federal resources available through the state and national ARC. The advent of technology has made it possible to use the infrastructure put in place by GTPDD with the respective county leaders to create customized solutions to meet local needs and maximize those things that make living in the Appalachian Region unique. Always looking for ways to improve conditions for the families, elderly, and businesses of the GTPDD service area, emerging ideas are incubated and piloted to determine how well the idea actually works in this region. We are proud of the counties we have been called to serve. We approach every day with an eye toward how we can be a better partner in strengthening our community. This website is designed to create a stronger sense of connection among us. Please send recommendations to webmaster@gtpdd.com.

What Skills Does a person Need at Gtpdd?

At Gtpdd, specify the abilities and skills that a person needs in order to carry out the specified job duties. Each competency has five to ten behavioral assertions that can be observed, each with a corresponding performance level (from one to five) that is required for a particular job.

  1. Technical Support: Offering hands-on assistance and solutions to end-users in addressing and troubleshooting technical issues.
  2. Troubleshooting: Troubleshooting is a form of problem solving, often applied to repair failed products or processes on a machine or a system. It is a logical, systematic search for the source of a problem in order to solve it, and make the product or process operational again. Troubleshooting is needed to identify the symptoms. Determining the most likely cause is a process of elimination—eliminating potential causes of a problem. Finally, troubleshooting requires confirmation that the solution restores the product or process to its working state. In general, troubleshooting is the identification or diagnosis of "trouble" in the management flow of a system caused by a failure of some kind. The problem is initially described as symptoms of malfunction, and troubleshooting is the process of determining and remedying the causes of these symptoms. A system can be described in terms of its expected, desired or intended behavior (usually, for artificial systems, its purpose). Events or inputs to the system are expected to generate specific results or outputs. (For example, selecting the "print" option from various computer applications is intended to result in a hardcopy emerging from some specific device). Any unexpected or undesirable behavior is a symptom. Troubleshooting is the process of isolating the specific cause or causes of the symptom. Frequently the symptom is a failure of the product or process to produce any results. (Nothing was printed, for example). Corrective action can then be taken to prevent further failures of a similar kind.
  3. Customer Service: Customer service is the provision of service to customers before, during and after a purchase. The perception of success of such interactions is dependent on employees "who can adjust themselves to the personality of the guest". Customer service concerns the priority an organization assigns to customer service relative to components such as product innovation and pricing. In this sense, an organization that values good customer service may spend more money in training employees than the average organization or may proactively interview customers for feedback. From the point of view of an overall sales process engineering effort, customer service plays an important role in an organization's ability to generate income and revenue. From that perspective, customer service should be included as part of an overall approach to systematic improvement. One good customer service experience can change the entire perception a customer holds towards the organization.
  4. Problem Solving: Analyzing and identifying the root cause of problems and applying critical thinking skills to solve problems.
  5. Analysis: Analysis is the process of considering something carefully or using statistical methods in order to understand it or explain it.
