While IAC operates at a national level, local chapters within the organization operate at a regional level. Chapter 36 is one of five IAC chapters operating in California. The chapter was founded in 1975 and was originally comprised of pilots operating in the San Diego area. The reach of Chapter 36 now encompasses active members in San Diego, Orange, Riverside, and Los Angeles Counties. Chapter 36 is a unique chapter in that it hosts two contests annually (in Borrego Springs). The chapter is very active and would love to hear from you if you have an interest in aerobatics (regardless of your status as a pilot). We have many members who aren't pilots at all but simply enjoy the activity. Why would I be interested? If you are interested in aerobatics, Chapter 36 has much to offer. Our members meet up at the Borrego Valley Airport (L08) when the weather is nice for practice and critique sessions. Many of our members fly in the upper categories and have years of contest experience. Advice for improving your skill is yours for the asking. Chapter 36 has a permanent aerobatic box directly adjacent to the Borrego airport-beautifully marked and open eleven months of the year. Practice in the box is reserved for members only. Membership is a bargain at $50 per year.
