Pacific Northwest Sculptors is an educational nonprofit of contemporary sculpture artists dedicated to serving the public through sculpture education programs and sculpture exhibitions . We are a dynamic, inclusive community of working artists who inspire and support each others growth with ideas, skills, and knowledge. Our working board focuses on elevating understanding of sculpture from traditional clay sculpture to 3D sculpture techniques. Our goal is to advance appreciation for the art of sculpture. Committees are the heart and soul of PNWS. Our all volunteer committees conceive and produce meetings, shows, calls to artists, newsletters and much more. In 2000, sculptor Joseph Highfill, along with a small group of contemporary sculpture artists founded Pacific Northwest Sculptors. Highfill had been working with bronze sculptor Micheal Dente to create the sculpture of Martin Luther King at the Portland Convention Center. This fulfilling collaboration encouraged Highfill to seek out other sculptors to share experiences and information. He recruited about 10 sculptors, including Marty Eichinger and Devin Lawrence Field. The group quickly expanded to about 20. After a few meetings, the group structured itself into a more formal organization, created bylaws and a plan for regular educational gatherings. In the past 20+ years, many sculptors have participated in our organization. Today, our members include students, beginners, emerging artists, regional and internationally-recognized sculptors. We all share a common thirst for information, a willingness to share our knowledge, resources, vendors, advice and opinions. We are an educational nonprofit (501(c)(3) organization. Our mission is to share knowledge and appreciation of sculpture with each other and the general public. We accomplish that mission through regular meetings, shows, demonstrations and other public events. In addition to annual demos at Art in the Pearl, we have participated in the Maker Fair at OMSI and many regional festivals. Recent shows ...
