Titan Armor is our unique solution that helps CPAs and business owners claim the R&D Tax Credit. The R&D Tax Credit fuels American innovation by reducing the tax bill of qualified businesses and protects American jobs by keeping our technological capabilities here in America. Titan Armor started with this vision in mind, and continues to help American businesses thrive by claiming the R&D credit and offsetting the cost of premium American talent. Here's how Titan Armor began: In 1981, R&D tax credit was put in place, but for 20 years it was only available to companies that were doing things that were considered patentable. That changed in 2001, when congress changed the definition of R&D to open up the credit to mid-market companies. However, claiming the research credit required engineering, accounting, and legal analysis, which most CPA firms didn't have, so they started hiring R&D consulting firms. Fast-forward to 2008, and the Treasury Department published guidance saying they disapproved of "year-end estimating" as a way of claiming the R&D credit, which was the way most boutique consulting firms were doing it. That's where Titan Engineering found its opportunity to help. Titan was hired to build a custom software solution to help a client who was being audited during this time of transition from the "old" way of claiming the research credit to the new way. After sitting down with the IRS auditors and walking step-by-step through what they were looking for when deciding to allow or disallow research credits, Titan Engineering was able to piece together the first software solution capable of delivering exactly what the IRS wants to see and how they want to see it. Our humble beginnings of building our R&D software solution in front of the IRS created a spark of interested clients who couldn't wait to get their hands on the first bulletproof, defensible way to claim the R&D credit. From those humble beginnings in 2008 until now, we've not only fine-tuned our R&D software solution, but we've meticulously ...
