The Vermont Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (VASFAA) has been in existence for over forty years and remains focused on its mission to assist its members in their support and administration of post-secondary student financial aid. Financial aid professionals have a lot to manage in their day-to-day professional lives due to all of the changing regulations and legislative "tweaks" to the aid programs they manage for their institutions. VASFAA's goal is to assist them through advocay efforts, professional development and training sessions and through marketing opportunities with their fellow members. Any individual who works at a post-secondary educational institution in the state of Vermont and any individual or organization that provides direct support to an educational institution is invited to become a member of VASFAA. VASFAA exists to serve its members but can only exist with the support of its members. Please get involved by participating at meetings, attending the yearly conference or volunteering to join a committee or lead a training session. During the next few months VASFAA will need volunteers to assist on our Training, Conference and Government Relations Committees. We also need to take a moment to take a look at the organization itself and determine the best path for our future. We need to ask the difficult "who," "what," and "why" questions. The answers to these questions will help lead this organization going forward. Along these guidelines, there will also be a Strategic Planning Committee in the near future. Please reach out to myself or any other member of the Executive Committee with any comments or suggestions you may have concerning VASFAA. I look forward to my time as president of VASFAA and working toward its goal to assist every member so they in turn can assist the students and families they interact with everyday.
