Hydrologist is responsible for monitoring the movement, characteristics, and quality of water in a given region. Collects samples and conducts measurements on water, including ponds, lakes, rivers, and groundwater. Being a Hydrologist analyzes collected data including water composition, pollution, erosion, volume, and stream and groundwater flow to create accurate models, predict trends, and help develop solutions to problems. Uses a broad collection of data and an understanding of the region's water to provide guidance to new initiatives, projects, or regulations that could make a significant impact. Additionally, Hydrologist this could include projects or regulations involving irrigation, waste water, industrial waste, or power plants. May require a bachelor's degree in hydrology or geology or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Hydrologist work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.
