1105 Media., Inc., a leading provider in business-to-business (B2B) services is currently seeking a Director of Accounting/Controller.

Job Summary 
This position will oversee the corporate accounting department. Responsibilities include managing and supervising Accounts Receivable, Billing, Cash Collection, Ad Contracts, General Ledger, Audits, etc. The Director of Accounting/Controller will be involved in leading, preparing and publishing financial statements (P&L, BS, CF - actuals/budgeted forecast and projections) on a monthly, quarterly and year-end basis.  The role requires management and maintenance of the general ledger, billing, and financial reporting systems. This position will report to our CFO and will be based in Los Angeles, California.
 
 
What You’ll Do
  • Oversee and work closely with accounting, finance, billing, AR, sales, ad contracts, production, collections and other colleagues as needed both internally and externally to accomplish the tasks and responsibilities.
  • Review and Oversee G/L accounting close, Accounts Receivable, Billing, Cash Receipts Fixed Assets, Commissions, Payroll, Financial reporting, and Annual audit functions.
  • Full responsibility of overseeing, preparing and approving month end closing schedules, general ledger entries, reconciliations (PL & BS), variance analysis, which include but are not limited to the following: Cash Accounts, Revenue accounts, Cost of Sales accounts, Expense Accounts, Prepaids, Fixed assets, Other intangibles, Other assets, Accruals, Outstanding Loans and Debts, Leases, Subleases, Rents, Other Liabilities, FSA, 401k clearing, Intercompany, Tax provisions, Equity accounts, etc.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly and year end closes (including GP closes inclusive of monthly covenant compliance filings) and account reconciliation process as per the closing schedules and timelines.
  • Work closely with Sr. Accountant to coordinate tax preparation and ensure local, state, and federal regulatory reporting and tax requirements are met.
  • Supervise and work closely with sales, production, accounts receivable, billing and collections team to resolve complex revenue, billing and collection situations.
  • Lead, prepare and present (Actuals & Forecast) monthly/quarterly/yearly financial statement packages for internal and external constituents including sr. management, lenders and board of directors.
  • Manage the annual financial statement audits and tax engagement by closely working with outside CPA firms, Sr. Accountant, internal finance team and CFO to prepare audit and tax schedules, processes and procedures and continually update policies, procedures and internal control structure. Prepare, review and complete the draft financial statements with footnotes disclosures.
  • Administer and maintain general ledger system and chart of accounts with regards to the new account setup and development.
  • Continuously review and implement improvements to processes, policies and procedures.
  • Supervise, train and mentor junior accounting, billing, AR, and other finance team personnel.
  • Ad-hoc requests and special projects as and when required and needed.
 
 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business
  • MBA (a plus)
  • 10+ years or more of experience in a financial management, reporting and accounting leadership capacity
  • CPA highly preferred (active or inactive)
  • Knowledge of Great Plains, Adaptive Insights, Naviga (formerly ELAN)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP principles, maintaining strong internal control environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with experience working with people at all levels of an organization
  • Strong skills in preparing financial models and projections (P&L, BS & Cash Flows, FCF, etc.)
  • Excellent presentation, management & leadership skills
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills and ability to remain focused and organized
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong business acumen and advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint a plus
