What does an Product Manager III, Enrollment Systems do at companies like 2U, Inc.?

What We’re Looking For:

This Senior Product Manager is responsible for the vision, execution, and success of products assigned to them. This person will work closely with the Portfolio Product Manager and product business partners to align strategy and requirements, and manage Agile team(s) and consultants for development and delivery.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Drive product development from conceptualization through launch, create actionable plans, work streams and tactics and execute on those in support of new product launches
  • Be the subject matter expert and champion for the products you manage
  • Define and draft epics, including success criteria and KPIs
  • Advocate for and defend product vision and priorities with Portfolio Steering Team
  • Plan and conduct market, competitive product  and user research; make build vs. buy recommendations
  • Gather input from business partners and work with Engineering and Admin teams to drive superior outcomes
  • Build and maintain prioritized product roadmap
  • General project management of scope, deadlines, dependencies, status and expectations
  • Estimate project costs; Manage development of and advocate for annual team budget
  • Create and manage product vision documentation; communicate vision across the team and the organization
  • Guide products throughout the full software development lifecycle in Agile environment
  • Develop, track and report on product and team KPIs
  • Plan and coordinate product launch and product training activities
  • Evaluate suitability of 3rd party service providers and tools
  • Provide leadership and tactical guidance to Business Analysts and Engineers
  • Communicate and refine requirements with development team and guide product design, implementation, testing and maintenance. 
  • Coordinate resourcing, inputs and scheduling across matrix disciplines, including development, content, marketing, analytics, design, legal and ops.
  • Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the organization’s ability to meet its strategic, financial, and technical goals.
  • Leverage data/analytics to make decisions, but know how to make the call when all the data isn’t there
  • Being "go-to" person for both stakeholders and TechDev colleagues.

Things That Should Be In Your Background:

  • At least 4-7 years of experience in product management required
  • Experience of direct management/ownership of a product including financial/ROI and strategic roadmap responsibilities
  • People operations and management experience
  • Experience building technology products that address complex business needs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of end-to-end software development process (SDLC)
  • Experience in Agile Software Development Methodologies 
  • Proven ability to learn a product landscape quickly
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Judgement, vision, and drive to succeed
