Maintains facilities, systems and equipment in order to provide a safe, efficient and comfortable workplace.

  • Responsibilities include operation, repair, and preventative maintenance of all building facilities and equipment; move and installation of equipment and or furniture; and other related duties.
  • Provides validation technical assistance to engineering to support manufacturing efforts by implementing corrective and preventative actions.
  • Assists engineers in developing methods and procedures to control or improve Facilities processes. Assists in execution of facility and utility validations. Validation certification required.
  • Performs plant and/or office facilities maintenance duties such as furniture moving, maintenance of office equipment, simple electrical projects, spot painting or cleaning, light construction or exterior clean-up.
  • Performs routine repairs and maintenance of plant and/or office facilities and equipment by using hand or power tools as required.
  • Sets up and operates all tools and equipment necessary to perform assigned work.
  • Performs work in more than one of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical and HVAC, sheet metal fabrication, and welding, for the construction, repair, and/or alteration of structures such as walls, roofs or office fixtures. (Senior Level).
  • Makes routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. (Intermediate and Senior Levels).
  • Works with manufacturing or process engineering in the installation or repair of building plumbing and wiring required in the production process. (Intermediate and Senior Levels).
  • Tests, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs machines and equipment and reports problems to supervisor as appropriate.
  • Works with outside contractors on facilities and equipment repairs.
  • Interprets blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications. (Senior Level).
  • Where and when applicable, remove snow from entrances and docking areas by using appropriate equipment.
  • May be involved in other activities such as mail deliveries, waste paper recycling, inter-office transportation, set-up of audiovisual equipment, and stocking of coffee areas.
  • Plans, organizes, and prioritizes own daily work routine to meet established schedule
  • Solves a variety of problems of limited to moderate scope and complexity requiring basic interpretation of defined procedures and practices.
  • Maintains confidentiality in handling sensitive information or documents.

MINIUM EDUCATION

  • H.S. diploma or equivalent plus 2-5 years of related work experience or equivalent combination.
  • Two-year degree or some college credits preferred.  
  •  Applies broad knowledge of business concepts, procedures and practices and a general understanding of department fundamentals. Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.
  • Performs routine and non-routine moderately complex assignments using standard methods and sequences.
  • Make adjustments, modifications and replacements to set processes as directed. Assignments require broad judgment in troubleshooting proven processes as well as the ability to suggest alternatives.
