Abbott Molecular Division (AMD) has an opening for Business Excellence Program Manager located in Des Plaines, IL. This Project/Program Leader will govern Gross Margin Improvement (GMI) projects portfolio for AMD and leads cost-reduction and/or growth-oriented projects supporting GMI Roadmap. Provide strategic business intelligence as well as leadership for highly complex, cross-functional high-impact projects across manufacturing operations, supply chain, commercial, quality and other functional areas. This position will establish, coordinate and provide Project/Program Management leadership including facilitation of Rapid Improvement Workshops (Kaizen events) to drive improvements in business' global margin. Improves the capability of the organization by mentoring and coaching project leaders and teams. Responsible for assuring program and project integration across applicable value streams and in alignment with the Division Functions, Business Units and Executive Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads and manages multiple cost-reduction and/or growth-oriented projects across functional areas
  • Govern Gross Margin Improvement projects at a divisional level, and communicate progress versus divisional goals to senior/executive leadership team
  • Identify and gather necessary resources to successfully complete projects. Liaise with other areas in the organization to secure resource support
  • Design, communicate, and implement a project plan for completing a project/program; Monitor progress and performance against the project plan; Establish financial business-case for projects and validate financial benefits for projects working with project teams and finance representative
  • Conduct project meetings and prepare reports to communicate the status of the project within and beyond the project team
  • Coach and mentor project staff and assist them to solve problems
  • Provides ongoing coaching and mentoring on proper use of tools and improvement processes (Lean Six Sigma)
  • Facilitates workshops and Kaizen events for complex initiatives and projects

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (± 16 years)
  • Minimum 7 years’ professional experience

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master’s degree / MBA preferred
  • 7+ years’ experience in driving Lean Six Sigma for Cost Reduction preferably within Healthcare Industry
  • Trained and/or Certified in Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (DMAIC) and/or Project Management (PMP)
  • Proven background in leading high-impact projects or programs, cross-functional in nature
  • Leadership skill – Ability to work well as individual contributor and in teams
  • Prior supervisory and team management experience, preferably in Operations and/or Commercial areas
  • Solid communication skills – written and oral
  • Financial acumen with proven experience in developing financial business case, tracking/validating financial benefits, etc.
