The Opportunity

This position works out of our St Paul, MN  location in the Medical Device division, supporting our IT organization. This opportunity has the opportunity for hybrid work up to 2 days per week.

As an experienced, Financial Analyst our focus is on IT programs and digital capabilities is growing in an environment that is constantly evolving and challenging the investments we have available.  Therefore, visibility to program spend and optimizing our investment dollars is critical. 

What You’ll Work On

  • Responsible for budget management for Medical Devices IT related activities; including monthly reporting of all IT activity and variance analysis to forecast benchmarks.
  • Track IT project activity from multiple ledgers and systems and provide a consolidated view to leadership with actuals tracking and forward-looking budget insights for combined P&L expense and capital views.
  • Collaborate with Corporate IT to identify projects with shared funding and help determine and negotiate budget ownership and ensure alignment with Medical Device leadership.
  • Work with IT project managers, taking a lead role in reviewing capital expenditure project approval packages (referred to as RCEs, request for capital expenditures) ensuring the financials are accurate and the proposal is concise and polished for leadership review and approval.
  • Broader capital responsibility to help consolidate Capital metrics across the Medical Device Business Units. 
  • Assume other ad hoc responsibilities as assigned by manager.
  • Use the most effective, cost efficient and best business practices to execute processes; continuously evaluates their effectiveness and business value.
  • Exercises judgment in planning, organizing, and performing work; monitors performance and reports status within area of responsibility
  • Ensure that quality of services meets internal and external customer requirements, and remains current on developments in field(s) of expertise
  • Represent the organization and resolve problems/determine priorities related to the above

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2 years of related experience in finance with increasing responsibility.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of balance sheet transactions and their impacts on the income statement.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • A qualified record of implementing new processes effectively and efficiently.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • A qualified record of delivering information that adds value to management’s decision-making process.
  • Effectively multitasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines in timely manner without sacrificing quality.
  • Strong analytical skills, applies/uses good judgement, attention to detail and demonstrated capacity for accuracy.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.  Must be skilled at building and maintaining Excel-based financial models.
  • Must be able to perform in a diverse cross-functional team environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, CPA, CMA, or CPIM designation or equivalent.
  • Prior experience with IT budget management and/or experience in a high-tech, product-manufacturing environment.
  • Positive attitude and a self-starter with the ability to work independently across various levels of management.
  • Experience with SAP ERP system software and Hyperion Planning/Essbase systems.
