We have an exciting opportunity for a Global Automation Product Manager within our Abbott Core Lab Diagnostics business located at Lake Forest, IL. In this role, you will be responsible for marketing planning and product management of the clinical laboratory automation product portfolio. The key objective is to establish and maintain the competitiveness of the business franchise worldwide and support the regional marketing teams to ensure commercial success.

Clinical diagnostic testing provides important information for diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and other conditions. Abbott Diagnostics is a leader in the core lab diagnostic industry with a focus on transforming healthcare and driving measurably better healthcare performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive projects and action plans across regions and functions to accelerate growth for existing product lines and commercialize new products.
  • Support the commercial organizations with documentation coordination (cross-functional project management, portfolio strategy/ prioritization) and global marketing support (websites, collateral, training, publications, scientific KOL, global congresses).
  • Contribute to product enhancement requirements and represent the voice of customer.  The role will require participation in routine product enhancement team meetings, and interfacing with all geographies to ensure product scope and timing will meet the market requirements.
  • Maintain intelligence on the market dynamics  including competitive landscape, market share, and environmental factors impacting the product line.
  • Develop and document automation marketing processes .
  • Communicate with area marketing to provide updates on product performance, competitive activities, and other relevant information. Respond to country requests on product positioning, competitive information, product performance issues, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in Marketing, Business, life sciences, engineering or related technical discipline. 
  • At least 5 years of business experience and an understanding of the IVD core lab market
  • Minimum of 2 years of  marketing experience inclusive of  IVD sales. 
  • Familiarity with diagnostic industry practices and ideally  with the core lab, specifically clinical laboratory automation, chemistry/immunochemistry, and informatics.
  • Strong project management, time management and organizational skills with attention to detail and quality in delivery.
  • High level of comfort with developing, interpreting and communicating complex technical information  with impactful visualizations and supporting data.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) with ability to influence without authority across a wide variety of stakeholders and functions.
  • Demonstrated ability of working in a fast-paced, matrixed organization that requires quick response to changing market demands.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years marketing experience in in-vitro diagnostics
  • MBA with marketing emphasis preferred.  Knowledge of all aspects of marketing communications, methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards appropriate to the industry
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with success in promoting products.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels throughout the organization
  • Ability to travel globally up to 20% of time dependent on business needs.
  • Entrepreneurial drive, in a heavily matrixed and dynamic environment.
