Position Summary:

The Global Product Manager, Informatics and Automation, for Abbott Transfusion Medicine supports the development and management of a successful, sustainable franchise, ensuring delivery of exceptional customer value. Acts as a subject matter expert on our products/solutions and customer segment. Manages the product tactical and strategic initiatives in collaboration cross functional teams and with global area teams. Proactively identifies and activates new opportunities to accelerate growth, differentiate the franchise, and realize value. Collaborates across the organization to effectively develop and launch new products and solutions on-time and on-budget.

Main Responsibilities:

Proactively manages all aspects of the product line to ensure the delivery of customer value.

Strategic responsibilities include:

  • Development of refined business cases to support product development or enhancement
  • Providing input into annual marketing plan based on business objectives, franchise strategy and commercial area needs.
  • Selling ideas internally, aligning multiple stakeholders to a common goal and driving products and projects forward to deliver business objectives
  • Developing & executing robust launch and product management plans across multiple functional areas and geographies to capitalize on opportunities.
  • Owning product lifecycle management
  • Closely documents and reports on project plans, anticipates and mitigates and risk to timing, scope or budget

Tactical responsibilities (day-to-day) include:

  • Execution of marketing mix as defined in marketing plan
  • Acting as commercial expert/SME for product to business and all key stakeholders
  • Communication of information impacting the product or customers
  • Proactive identification and resolution of potential product or market issues
  • Engagement and influence of commercial area teams, R&D, regulatory etc. to set and meet project timings, budgets and business strategy & objectives
  • Supporting the commercial area teams to deliver on the franchise business goals

The position requires the ability to understand the technology and capabilities of Abbott products, market and customer dynamics – including competitive assessment.

The candidate must be highly organized, self-directed and goal- oriented with the ability to manage many tasks/projects and adapt in a rapidly changing environment. 

Accountability:

  • Achievement of franchise revenue and margin objectives
  • Achievement of successful product and project launches as measured by KPIs
  • Achievement of annual goals to support advancement of the business, as well as completion of business sustaining tasks

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, medical technology, life sciences, engineering or related technical discipline. MBA highly preferred.

Experience: Total business experience of 5 years with 2 years of commercial experience (sales/marketing). In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) experience preferred. Marketing and product launch experience preferred.   International business experience preferred.
