The Opportunity

This position is an onsite opportunity in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division. We are helping people with Diabetes lead healthier, happier lives. As a Global Supply Chain Manager, you will have an ownership of Supply Chain through individual contributor direct reports of assigned product lines/value streams and is responsible for some or all of the following supply chain sub disciplines: demand planning, product life cycle planning, purchasing, production scheduling, inventory management, customer service, freight and logistics and warehouse efficiency. Responsible for managing metrics to scorecard our performance in these areas. This is an onsite opportunity in Alameda, CA

What You'll Do

  • Provides leadership and partners with key stake holders across the entity to drive process improvement and meet business objectives.

  • Provides leadership to Supply Chain Professionals through setting goals which align to the entity's annual operating plans and managing the execution of goals through coaching and mentoring.

  • Develops a culture of continuous improvement, professional growth, cross functional/cross divisional collaboration and goal planning and execution.

  • Develops and communicates plans which ensure entity resources are optimized and service levels are not sacrificed and adequate inventory exists to support the organization.

  • Direct individuals, remove obstacles and implement practices which ensures customers receive product in a timely manner using cost efficient processes (workforce planning, inventory management, purchasing, systems utilization).

  • Analyzes team recommendations, then prepares, presents, obtains buy in, communicates and implements annual plans for assigned product lines.

  • Identifies and implements actions to maximize synergistic opportunities between all global entities.

  • Hires and retains a diverse, highly qualified staff and provides ongoing performance feedback. Maintains a safe and professional work environment.

  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.

  • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

  • Provide leadership and coordination for global supply planning activities across the division.

  • Develop plans for global supply planning across the division that meet the divisions strategies and goals for product availability and costs.

  • Responsible for generation DRP and MPS plans on a global scale across the distribution chain, manufacturing operations and contract manufacturing.

  • Provide input and support to the implementation of the integrated business processes around sales and operations planning, the Business Plan and LRP.

  • Responsible for global finished goods inventory policy implementation and deployment through collaborative working with Global Logistics, Commercial teams and both internal and external services providers and stakeholders.

  • Work with other Worldwide Supply Chain and ADC organizations to identify and implement major supply chain optimization projects to reduce costs, lead time and improve product availability.

  • Support the development and implementation of supply planning systems and processes.

Manage the coordination and integration of data from multiple software systems to facility divisional reporting and planning activities.

  • Lead Supply Planning activities in connections with product introductions and discontinuation to ensure smooth and effective program execution, minimizing obsolescence while ensuring product availability.

  • Monitor and eliminate nonvalue added activities to reduce costs and cycle times.

  • Be proactive and direct in communicating opportunities, issues and requirements ensuring that management and senior staff are current on all critical matters, with a focus on resolution alternatives, recommendations and implementation planning, costs and benefits.

  • Maintain and develop positive relationships with commercial affiliates, division headquarters, Operation, R&D and Finance to positively influence decision making and improve performance.

  • Responsible for global supply planning of the divisions products including finished goods inventory planning, manufacturing master schedule generation and distribution requirements planning through the division distribution network (in excess of 80 commercial and distribution locations).

  • Additionally responsible to provide input to the divisions Sales and Operations Planning activities, working with Global Forecasting, Global and Regional Marketing, Domestic and International Commercial Operations, Finance, Operations, R&D and others as required.

  • The end result being improved new product introductions, improved product availability, timelier product delivery, reduced cost and reduced obsolescence.

Experience You'll Bring

Required

  • Bachelors Degree (± 16 years) In Business Administration or Supply Chain related body of knowledge or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 8 years Supply Chain experience with pattern of progressing responsibilities.
  • 2 years leading Supply Chain teams.
  • 4 years of experience in the Medical Device industry.
  • 6 years of experience working with Supply Chain software
  • Experience with global supply chain teams including policy and procedure development, strategy formulation, regulatory compliance, quality systems and product life cycle planning.
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%, including internationally.
