We have an opening for an experienced, innovative, strategic Manager of Acute Care Contracting in our Columbus, Ohio office. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of AC contracting, the Manager of Acute Care Contracting is a partner to sales and will collaborate with legal, finance, marketing, and other functions. They are directly responsible for managing a team of  analysts in successfully executing contract operations and price strategy for Abbott’s institutional customer’s that represent a book of business >$60MM annually.  

Critical Functions:

  • Contract Management/Negotiation:
    • Make decisions on specified pricing and contract terms (within operating procedures) and obtain stakeholder approval where necessary outside those parameters.
    • Ensure compliance with contractual terms and develop best practices for fulfilling non-standard deal requirements.
    • Support developing customer deals and managing contract negotiations in partnership with Abbott’s Field Sales Force with Group Purchasing Organizations and Hospitals.
    • Prepares responses to Request for Proposals (RFP) as required.
  • Leadership / Communication:
    • Manages team establishing clear expectations and holding them accountable to managing their contracts including the everyday operations of membership and maintenance/fees to understanding sales/margin, membership and contract components to inform sound recommendations on all contract and customer deals.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in easy to understand business terms to senior leaders.
  • Analysis / Insights:
    • Develops methodology and review models that consistently and objectively evaluate the financial impact of deal proposals.
    • Financial analyses experience that includes complex analyses and comparisons using intermediate to advanced Excel formulas, understanding data, recognizing trends, and data manipulation in a concise manner to tell a story.

Requirements:

  • Experience developing, analyzing, negotiating, legal review and executing contracts in the healthcare industry preferred.
  • Candidate must have 2+ years of solid hands-on experience utilizing intermediate features of Excel to conduct financial analyses and comparisons. Must be able to understand the data, look for trends and manipulate the data to understand the story.
  • 3 years relevant experience required; 5 years preferred
  • A Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) required
  • Area of Study: Business, healthcare or related field
  • Exceptional project management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with strong inter-personal and customer relationship skills.
  • People management and development.
  • Extraordinary attention to detail
  • Extensive working knowledge of MS Office including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
