Primary Job Function

The Manager of Program and Pathways Development will lead the development of new programs and improvement of existing programs to address market access barriers, improve patient engagement, and increase provider pathway efficiency.  This leader will interface closely with internal Abbott functions including legal, compliance, data security, and others to ensure programs comply with the requirements of these various functions.  Collection and use of metrics to drive decision making and assessment of work product and functional effectiveness will also be managed by this role.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Solutions Program and Strategy:  Lead the development of new value-added solutions and continuously improve existing solutions to accelerate market awareness and customer adoption for the Company’s solutions portfolio.
  • Program Management and Implementation:  Assist Program Management colleagues with delivery and execution of program pilots and liaison with the IHFS and other field teams on program delivery and customer engagements.
  • Peer to Peer Strategy: Lead development of administrative and physician champions to support Abbott solutions, establish presence at administrative and clinical conferences and conduct webinar, advisory boards, etc. supporting the value of growing cardiovascular programs/service-lines through collaboration with Abbott solutions.
  • Cross Functional Alignment & Support: Work closely with product marketing, sales, contracting, regulatory, legal and clinical to develop solutions that support primarily the heart failure, structural heart and EA selling and strategic account objectives.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor, analyze, and evaluate market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activity, health policy and clinical guideline updates to identify market opportunities for solution products and services programs.  Ensure the Abbott cardiovascular solutions strategy stays relevant with the market environment and drives intended effect.
  • Customer Targeting: Assist in the development of customer targeting strategies including education of the heart failure, structural heart and EA sales teams to identify and engage target customers in service and solutions discussions.
  • Commercial Selling Tools: Instill commercial focus, develop and execute measurable, multi-channel communication strategies (brochure, PPT, video, digital, advertising, case study/white paper, economic analysis) and events to enable sales with targeted audiences.
  • Customer Relationships & Sales Support: Support heart failure, structural heart and EA sales teams with customer meetings and communications.
  • Business Impact Assessment: Conduct modeling and projections for P&L impact of service and solutions portfolio strategy and individual solutions engagements with customers.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This role will not include people management responsibilities initially, but may in the future as program scope expands and implementation team members are added.

Position Accountability / Scope

This role will report to the Director of Programs and Operations and will have a matrixed relationship with the Enterprise Accounts, Heart Failure, and Structural Heart sales teams.

Minimum Education

BA/BS in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, and/or Life Sciences preferred

MHA/MBA preferred

Minimum Experience/Training Required

  • 8+ years of progressively increasing responsibility and leadership in healthcare organizations, with strong preference for those with healthcare provider experience. 
  • Must have a solid understanding of patient pathway and management processes and the challenges faced by provider organizations.
  • Ability to work with key customers; established relationships with key customers in the relevant specialties preferred
  • Clinical knowledge and experience of heart failure and structural heart disease states and treatment options.
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, matrixed, geographically diverse, and changing environment; experience organizing and leading matrixed teams is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner. Strong organizational and follow-up skills as well as attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel 1-2 days per week.
