Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced, high caliber Manufacturing Technician to join our team in the St. Paul, MN location. This is a unique opportunity to join an early-stage development team that provides solutions to patients suffering from mitral valve disease. The position is on a fast-paced, early product development team within Abbott’s Ventures Organization. The individual who fills this role will play a pivotal part in the production of high-quality medical device hardware and systems, setting up and tearing downs molding and coating equipment, and assisting with special work order processing.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform Special Work Order processing as needed
  • Perform testing set up, troubleshooting and maintenance of delivery system equipment.
  • Assist the Manufacturing Supervisor with line activities as needed.
  • Follow safety guidelines and utilize appropriate safety devices when performing all operations
  • Participate in continuous improvement/quality initiatives in order to enhance production processes to achieve quality and profitability metrics.
  • Maintain accurate records to ensure DHR and quality documents are accurate, all parts are traceable and quality issues can be addressed to assure the quality of all products.
  • Ability to prioritize work by determining the sequencing and timing of different jobs based on precedence and importance.
  • Positively represent the company during tours by demonstrating techniques and sharing appropriate information.
  • Perform electrical safety testing of medical device hardware and systems
  • Perform testing of electronic components and assemblies using manual test equipment, i.e ossciliscope, function generator, etc
  • Maintains cross training in multiple areas/processes
  • Performs troubleshooting of process and product non-conformances
  • Performs troubleshooting, servicing and refurbishment of medical device hardware and systems
  • Perform routine/preventative maintenance on applicable equipment and documentation in InforEAM CMMS
  • Identify, analyze, and implement manufacturing improvements (e.g., processes, yields, and productivity)
  • Support engineering and process validation activities for continuing production and for new product introductions

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 4+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a medical device, chemical, petroleum, chemical compounding, or related industry, including working on and documenting process improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting equipment, building and or testing of electronic assemblies
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to handle and maneuver small components and parts
  • Understanding of and ability to utilize electronic data collection systems and computer software packages
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Medical device experience
  • Experience in GMP, ISO, and FDA controlled environments
