Abbott is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to join our growing team. The role will be responsible for curating and reporting complex high-dimensional data and developing exploratory visualization tools and reports to execute on applied research objectives.

This role directly supports Abbott's Neuromodulation business and requires all applicants to live in the Dallas/Texas area. Abbott Neuromodulation develops advanced medical implants and accessories for the stimulus of the nervous system and sensing of biomarkers.  We are on the forefront of implantable device miniaturization and data science for improved patient outcomes. 

Specific Responsibilities also include:

• Structure data for use in analytics applications.
• Organize and analyze data from research projects.
• Assist in development and preparation of external data presentation.
• Utilize advanced statistical, mathematical, and predictive modeling to build algorithms.
• Assist in transforming data into actionable insights to support cross functional decision making.
• Develop and manage interactive data visualization and analytic tools for reporting, exploratory analysis to interface with clinical biostatistics, data management, and clinical operations.
• Identify new technologies/concepts/methodologies which will help address complex, non-routine and evolving needs of clinical research team.

Desired Skills and Experience:

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to support Applied Research in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, exemplified by:

• 10+ years’ experience in clinical/scientific research, experience with clinical trials operations and clinical data management.
• 3+ years’ experience with scripting languages for pre-processing and statistical analysis (e.g. Python, R, MatLab).
• Strong background in physiologic data analytics, preferably related to neuroscience or similar fields.
• Have full stack experience in data collection, aggregation, analysis, visualization, and monitoring of data science products.
• Robust skills in statistics, probability, and/or machine learning.
• Excellent team player with demonstrated track record of success in a cross-functional team environment. Consistent commitment to delivering on team goals with a sense of shared urgency.
• M.S. or Ph.D. degree in quantitative scientific field (statistics, mathematics, computer science, computational biology, or engineering) preferred.
