Summary: Under general supervision, performs tests according to written protocols; builds equipment and circuits as directed; maintains accurate written and electronic records; develops special tests; troubleshoots and repairs equipment. Takes initiative to ensure work is done accurately and completely. Applies existing work methods to different known situations. Problems involve recurring, routine situations; usually refers more complex problems to supervisor or more senior level personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Tests and records capacitor performance according to protocols and standards; inspects, describes and documents observations; tests capacitors for mechanical, vacuum, humidity, temperature, vibration and shock response.
  • Builds special test equipment; troubleshoots equipment; builds special life test and data recording systems for laboratory; automate portions of laboratory and manufacturing processes.
  • Prepares samples by mounting, polishing, cutting and configuring for microscopic, photographic and SEM/EDAX evaluation.
  • Keeps laboratory and equipment neat, functional, calibrated and well maintained.
  • Maintains a database of information on ongoing testing; prepares data spreadsheets; ensures integrity of data.
  • Recommends changes to laboratory procedures to enhance turn-around time or give better readings.
  • May set-up utilize special test equipment.
  • Notifies supervisor of the need to replenish supplies/materials and of any production difficulties that cannot be readily corrected.
  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
  • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Engineering Technology, equivalent trade school/military training, or comparable related experience in biomedical field is desired.
  • Typically a minimum of four or more years related experience in the electrical or electronic repair/design fields.
  • Previous experience working in a clean-room manufacturing environment is desired.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the job, including common inspection and electronic testing methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to use frequently used hand tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand engineering drawings, schematics, diagrams, notes and layouts.
  • Must have demonstrated personal computer application s (e.g. spreadsheet and word processing) programming and repair skills. The ability to program in “C”, Visual Basic or Lab View is also required.
  • Demonstrated eye-hand coordination and ability to work with small precision devices.
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Minimal travel required.
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
