Main Purpose:
The primary responsibility of the TPM Operations Manager is to elevate supplier performance, oversight and accountability of production/supply issues / outcomes and mitigate risk associated with new lines on existing TPM. The role is responsible for operational/technical oversight and management of key TPMs with specific focus on fostering collaboration and continuous improvement to ensure the highest level of performance in all parts of the business.
Main Responsibilities:
Develops and prioritizes TPM department goals and objectives, measures performance, and implements corrective actions when necessary.
Develops and implements consistent performance metrics for TPMs. Close oversight / management of monthly, weekly, and daily capacity planning and resource allocation plans (molding, assembly, packaging).
Responsible for initiating/facilitating/coordinating new and current product/component designs and design changes to achieve improved quality and cost.
Responsible for providing leadership in identifying and developing reliable and cost effective operations / manufacturing processes.
Operational Readiness coordinator for TPM impacted programs such as product transfers, continuous improvement initiatives, material changes, validation of new manufacturing process, etc., providing oversight and guidance to Supply Chain, Quality, and Regulatory functions to ensure uninterrupted product/component supply. Ensures approved projects are within budget.
Responsible for knowledge of TPM business, systems and processes through close work with Quality Assurance, Engineering, R&D, Purchasing, Regulatory, Legal, Supply Chain, and Logistics.
Ensure TPM governance is established to ensure clear roles and responsibilities, review process and metrics. Develop strategies to address TPM performance issues. Accountable to establish and maintain effective cross-functional communication and working relationships between Abbott and Supplier’s Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, R&D, Regulatory, etc., functions.
Liaison with Supply Chain planning to drive business planning insights while leveraging the insights in daily operations. Including but not limited to: manufacturing capacity, capability (technology), production ramp up.
Responsible for operations and supply chain Abbott personnel at internal and external/TPM manufacturing site. Coordinates internal and external resources to address issues and ensure supply. Leads internal project teams to successfully manage new manufacturing site start-ups.
Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Division policies and procedures.
Evaluates cost / benefit of various financial scenarios and makes recommendations to senior management.
Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements linked to manufacturing.
Additional Responsibilities:
Engage collaboratively with TPM Operations management to provide recommendations and insights to optimize production
Drive continuous improvement and employee engagement. Work with staff to continue team building and fostering an environment of collaboration.
Create and execute continuous improvement plans to maximize human capital and technology solutions.
Incorporate technology roadmap and provide input on prioritization setting
Develop and manage team KPIs to drive effective decision making and better business process visibility.
Lead areas of tech transfer of new products and processes into the manufacturing area. Provide manufacturing feedback on engineering related projects and ensure volume commitments are met through NPI process.
Lead and mentor staff. Write performance reviews and annual goals, hold one-on-ones, and handle HR related matters.
Develop cross functional relationships within existing Abbott and external to promote deliver initiatives and practices conducive to “Best in Class” practices at TPM
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field. MBA desirable, but not necessary
Minimum 10 years of experience
Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
Strong oral and written presentation skills and ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
Excellent problem solving and logical thinking skills. This position will frequently interact with the principle business owner or senior management staff at the Third Party Manufacturer to discuss projects and negotiate issues and resolve problems.
Experience in working across functional areas and possess an understanding of the various operational disciplines (i.e., Engineering, Manufacturing, Logistics, Purchasing, Supply Chain).
This position requires frequent travel to Third Party Manufacturers on short notice as business conditions demand.
