Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position is open due to promotion of the incumbent. The Controller will support the growing needs of AssetWorks’ largest division. This position requires a motivated and energetic individual who is detailed oriented and can meet the demands of a fast-paced, dynamic Finance department while maintaining a positive attitude. The individual should possess excellent communication skills with the ability to work across all levels within the organization. We are looking for an individual that will challenge the status quo, generate ideas, and help implement processes to drive continuous improvement. The Individual
Demonstrated success in leading a team and managing people, with an emphasis on talent development and succession.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and processes, specifically IFRS 15 and 16
Strong process improvement skills with a history of successful process improvement implementation
History of developing/improving internal controls
Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience with monthly hard close of multiple divisions/entities
Strong excel skills
Adaptable and flexible to changing demands and priorities in an entrepreneurial business.
Financial statement preparation experience is a plus
Experience with Great Plains and Open Air is a plus
Qualifications
Active Certified Public Account – required
BS/BA in accounting or finance – required
Minimum two years of supervisory or engagement/project lead experience - required
One of the following required, both preferred:
Minimum 2-4 years of public accounting audit experience
Minimum 2-4 years of experience in a supervisory role at a private or public company
Experience in the software industry is a plus
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage staff of two direct reports, provide accounting guidance to wider finance team
Handle day to day accounting, as well as monthly hard close
Record/review journal entries and reconciliations
Oversee accounts payable function
Prepare internal financial reports, statements, and scorecards on a monthly basis
Perform monthly and quarterly variance analysis
Coordinate annual audit, prepare reports and schedules
Ensure compliance with company’s internal controls
Implement new processes, procedures, controls, and software to optimize efficiency and ensure tight internal controls
Facilitate or participate in ad hoc projects and requests
