Position Overview

This position is responsible for the overall performance of formulation development and CTM manufacturing.  This role will build an effective team to work together and across the organization to ensure requirements are meet and/or exceeded.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Project Accountability:  Actively ensure projects are executed in the highest scientific and quality standards; oversee client interaction to represent the department’s scientific and technical capabilities
  • Continuous Improvement:  Actively promote a continuous improvement mindset to drive value propositions in manufacturing, quality batch record reviews and revenue recognition
  • People Development:  Ensure the career growth of team members by building systems and processes to ensure ongoing learning and development
  • People Leadership:  Lead in the development of a culture and supporting systems to drive open communication, participate in intra/inter-departmental idea sharing to build engaged teams; advance and model Mayne Pharma values and leadership commitments; assure the highest levels of quality, safety, compliance and integrity are adhered to in all interactions
  • Quality Management and Oversight:  Provide leadership and day-to-day management of quality, safety and compliance activities including facilitation of new compound introductions in the facility; oversight of deviations, CAPAs and complaints

Specific Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Participate in and lead Quality Management Review
  • Provide client audit/technical SME support to Quality Assurance audit team for assigned projects
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight of formulation and process development activities
  • Responsible for GMP compliance in all aspects of batch manufacturing and documentation
  • Provide input to Client Services for new business development, including service estimate generation, assignment deadlines, and revenue recognition for group activities
  • Establish policies and processes while ensuring alignment with leadership
  • Oversee the recruitment and hiring process; identify any training needs for new employees
  • Provide employees with general supervision as well as development and learning opportunities to promote career growth
  • Provide technical leadership and collaboration to sales and business development team through partnerships with customers and potential customers to agree on development approaches and scope of work

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biology or related field with at least 9 years of experience in pharmaceutical development
  • Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutics, Industrial Pharmacy or related field with at least 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical development
  • PhD in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutics, Industrial Pharmacy or related field with at least 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical development

Physical Requirements

  • Some work with hazardous chemicals and other active chemical ingredients
  • Position requires the capacity to handle and manipulate objects using hands and arms
