JOB SUMMARY: Processes accounts payable to include processing, verifying and reconciling invoices in accordance with established accounting practices, policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
• Matches invoices with purchase requests, purchase orders, packing slips, receiving reports, and checks math.
• Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and proper approval according to Casino policy prior to payment.
• Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities.
• Processes invoices and statements as required by accounting system.
• Processes accounts payable checks as well as necessary stop payment needed as required by accounting system.
• Verify Federal Identification Numbers and obtain appropriate tax paperwork for processing payments.
• Resolve purchase order invoice issues and/or payment discrepancies and documentation.
• Maintains and analyzes manual (hard copy) and computer accounts payable files.
• Reconciles vendor accounts, statements and invoices, research and correct discrepancies.
• Prepares routine and special accounts payable reports as requested or assigned.
• Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoices and/or expense reports.
• Receives, researches and resolves a variety of routine and external inquiries concerning account status, including communicating the resolution of discrepancies to the appropriate person(s).
• Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with Casino policy and accepted accounting practices.
• Backs up accounting department personnel.
• Continue to develop skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required skills and knowledge:
• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Two years of accounts payable experience.
• Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable, general ledger system and procedures, financial chart of accounts.
• Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
• Understanding of basic accounting principles and budgeting.
• Sage Intacct or other equivalent accounting system experience.
• Ability to work without direct supervision and exercise good judgment.
• Ability to multi-task
• Knowledge of basic and intermediate accounting procedures.
• Intermediate math skills.
• Intermediate computer skills to include Microsoft Office.
• Experience resolving problems with vendors.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Use ten-key by touch.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to safeguard confidential information.
• Must have strong work ethics.
• Ability to perform all job duties accurately.
• Pass NRWC pre-employment testing.
• Ability to work all shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to obtain a Class III Gaming License.
Preferred skills and knowledge:
• AA degree in accounting or related field.
• College courses in accounting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to sit for long periods of time.
• Manual and finger dexterity for operation of 10-key, personal computer and preparation of routine paperwork.
• Ability to lift and move file boxes weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to tolerate a smoke-filled environment.
