Before joining the cannabis industry, Alena worked in molecular biology, analytical chemistry, and neuroscience laboratories. She joined Rm3 Labs in January 2016 and spent her first two years testing microbial samples and developing contaminant testing methods. She has also served as the labs Quality Manager and led the labs efforts to become ISO 17025 accredited. In her current position, she manages the labs daily operations and works with governmental agencies and stakeholders to advance cannabis regulations. Alena is a panel member on several Colorado marijuana and hemp regulatory workgroups and is the Co-Chair of the Sampling Subcommittee of the MED and CDPHE's Marijuana Science & Policy Work Group. She also sits on NCIAs Policy Council, NCIA's Scientific Advisory Committee, ASTM International's Committee D37 on Cannabis, and AOAC International's Cannabis Analytical Science Program (CASP) Microbiology Working Group.
